The Wildwood Takeover
Getting to the action around the Wildwood sands in 5 lbs. boots while lugging around all my light modifiers and backpack of lenses was not an easy task. The constant adrenaline and excitement kept my legs alive until I got back to my hotel room where they immediately turned into spaghetti. Between the races on the beach, the pits and the vendor booths I still managed to photograph 4 pinup models during the day. I didn't want to waste this chance to incorporate this unique Wildwood experience with a plethora of hot rods for props. To catch up with some friends and get familiar with the participants I headed to the pits where racers were already lining up to the staging area.
I felt like a little kid who was about to meet their favorite superheroes all in one place all at once. It can be a little overwhelming even for someone in their 30's. With so many faces I've recognized through social media from all over the country, it was hard to catch everyone I wanted to meet. Although a very competitive sport from the start line to finish, these racers have a die hard camaraderie to each other and offer any help or support to keep the races going. With a few more tweaks and pre-race checks, it's off to the staging lanes and down the beach strip you go! It's race day here on the shores of Wildwood folks!
