Sunset Around The Bend

After the sun started to set people either headed back to the Nugget for the block party or you can just pullover around the bend where campers set up less than a quarter mile away from the salt flat entrance. Hop Up Magazine was having an after party at their camp site so we stopped by to toast with some buddies from San Francisco and Minnesota before heading back to the Bonneville Inn. Glad I did because I ran into a LSR photographer, Peter Vincent, who's been shooting cars and LSR since the 60's. He's a huge inspiration to me as a fine art and automotive photographer. Coming from a background of accompanying some of the great landscape photographers such as Brett Weston and Ansel Adams, Paul Vincent honed his photography on a self-taught basis around the best landscape photographers of the time.

Other than photographing cars, he also has a strong love and passion of owning one of the most legendary cars on the drag strip, which he has brought out to the salts to run. The "Original 15oz. Coupe" which earned it's reputation tearing ear drums on nitro at drag strips across America. It will get any real race fans attention, it's like seeing a ghost from half a century ago come back to life. I was only able to get it loaded up on it's trailer but it was enough for me to see it in person and get a real idea of just how wide those rear tires are. On our way out, I caught this joyful moment of this kid enjoying his imaginary drive down the salts. Day 3 on it's way, folks!
