Dad's Dream
The bond between father and son is a unique relationship. A father, essentially is role model and a protector of his family. To protect, provide, and procreate is ingrained in us at a very young age which has been passed down from generation to generation. I'm a firm believer that we carry on the best qualities from our fathers and we subconsciously project those values onto others which is how we become the "spitting image" of them. At a young age, especially in adolescent stages, we tend to be defiant and competitive towards our fathers but that's a positive thing. It's in our nature to be that way because we want to be as respected and honored as we have done to our own fathers. In that aspect, we eventually accept that fact and become proud of becoming more like them. I may be speaking for myself on this, but the point is our fathers live on through their sons.
This last March, my good friend Chris Garcia parted planes with his father and best friend, Ysidro "Easy" Garcia Jr. Although I personally did not have the honor to meet such a great person, it was obvious that their bond was unshakable. The passion they both had for hot rods and cruisers is what built that bond and made it stronger. They decided they would build a hot rod together after his dad's retirement so Chris is continuing the project in memory of his father. This is the beginning of two ongoing projects which will make two cars out of one. Watching Chris work on the Model A was inspiring to see the passion and determination he had which was more than one man could exude. I was witnessing the spirit of his father through him that day and he couldn't have been more proud of Chris.
In loving memory of
Ysidro "Easy" Garcia Jr.
May you Race In Paradise.
