American All-Stars
The beginning months of the year are usually my quieter months for racing and I finally get some down time to relax and refocus for the year. But the reality of it is there is ALWAYS something to shoot that comes up spontaneously. Just when I think I could finally kick feet up and watch some anime and not worry about what to edit, I've shot another round of shoots back to back. Let's get back on track now, shall we?
Every year, the Pomona Fairplex fills up with rumbling V8's, gassers, dragsters, good ol' American hot rods, you name it. Welcome to the Grand National Roadster Show! There's a car style and build for any enthusiast alike and it's all mingled into one venue so the exposure to all the sorts gives opportunities to discover new ones. The first segment will focus on the exhibition halls under the specular lights filled with chrome and carburetors. Majority of the sponsor booths were located inside the halls so many of the magazine grabber builds were on display. This year's AMBR (America's Most Beautiful Hot Rod) went to Bruce Wanta's 1936 Packard. Pictures don't justify the form and beauty of the body lines on this masterpiece.
With the recent passing of hot rod legend, Pete Chapouris of So-Cal Speed Shop, it was necessary to pay tribute by showcasing his iconic hot rods. He has made such an impact in the industry many people would recognize and admire the contributions he made and the inspiration he instilled. He will always be remembered as the California Kid.
